Immortality is one of the greatest desires that nearly all humans tend to share. It has been a dream of ours since the dawn of human civilization. The primary reason is that we all have a natural fear of dying.

Even as a child, most people are keenly aware of their mortality and can witness it happening all around us each day.

We quickly understand that life is relatively short, and a life-threatening fatality can happen at any given moment.

Because of this knowledge, death often plays an instrumental role in shaping our lives, cultures, laws, and belief systems. Consequently, there are no alternative options but to accept this fate and resign ourselves to one simple fact: there is nothing that can be done to change this.

To such end, many people set off to achieve everything they can in the short time allotted before it is over.

However, others have rejected these limitations and dedicated their lives to finding ways to overcome this concern. In fact, since 3000 BC, it has been well documented, that humans have actively attempted many different avenues to resolving this dilemma.

This ranges from developing various religious and philosophical belief systems to changes in medicine, health, and technological advancements.

The book, The Race for Immortality reviews the unique history of immortality. And seek to answer these important questions:

  1. Is it even remotely possible for humans to live for hundreds or thousands of years? There is plenty of scientific evidence to suggest we can.

  2. What type of immortality science and technologies have we created? The answer reveals everything from bionics to 3D Printing.

  3. What might be the impact on our societies? An immortal society is where we are headed, but the effect on our lives and the world will be drastic.

  4. Where are we right now in our longevity pursuits and when will we see the fruits of all these years of effort? The estimated timelines might amaze you.

Of all the various histories of humankind, the unique history of immortality is probably the longest and most impactful to our species.

This fascinating story is as intriguing as it is mystifying, covering thousands of years and involving billions of people. The development of this long-sought-after goal will greatly impact the children of today and those of tomorrow.
